Bringing an array of folk, indie rock and soul-infused sounds, super group Boygenius stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday night (Nov. 5) for a gripping performance of “Me & My Dog.”
Composed of singers Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus, the band made their TV debut with a sense of nostalgia as Bridger’s velvety voice rolled into the lyrics, “I had a fever/ Until I met you/ Now you make me cool/ But sometimes I still do/ Something embarrassing.”
With their moody songwriting, the trio traveled through melodic arrangements and stirring violins that added to the heartrending performance as all three gently strummed their guitars and joined in three-part harmonies on the chorus of the song from their six-track, self-titled debut.
Singing together on the emotional chorus, with Baker playing an elegiac solo on her electric guitar, the singers showed organic chemistry as they delivered full-bodied vocals in complete sync as well as a very simple message displayed on their drummer’s kit on the night before the crucial midterm election today (Nov. 6): VOTE.
