Man sentenced to 20 years for killing Tucson couple in crash

A man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing a couple in a gruesome two-vehicle crash more than two years ago.

That afternoon, Bondy was traveling 90 miles per hour along Golf Links Road when he lost control, went airborne and crashed head-on into a car.

The occupants, Joel W. Cohen 76, and Mary Jane Cohen, 77, were killed in “gruesome fashion” authorities said.

Police determined Bondy’s car went airborne before the crash after it struck a median.

Bondy would later admit to taking prescription migraine medication prescribed to his father. A blood sample confirmed the drugs were in his system.

He was also convicted of endangerment, criminal damage and a DUI, according to the Pima County Attorney’s Office in June.
