Who would have thought that a normal Facebook Live session was going to spark a viral sensation to the point that it’s become a song? That’s the case for Thalia, who drops her new single “Me Oyen, Me Escuchan” on Friday (Aug. 31), Billboard can exclusively reveal.
The Mexican pop singer has become the latest hit on the Internet thanks to a live video she did on Facebook thanking her fans for helping “No Me Acuerdo” reach 200 million views on YouTube.
At some point in the video, Thalia, wearing a pink-fringed bodysuit and gold hoops, asks her fans in Spanish: “Are you there, my loves? Can you hear me? Can you feel me?”
Her phrase became an immediate hit on social media, sparking the #ThaliaChallenge. In the midst of the phenomenon, a musician named Chuy Nuñez turned the video into a catchy pop song, which is being released as Thalia’s newest single.
“Me Oyen, Me Escuchan,” will be available Friday (Aug. 31) on all digital platforms under Sony Music Latin. Listen to the exclusive premiere below.
