Tash Sultana is in the flow.
A freakishly-talented singer-songwriter, loopologist and multi-instrumentalist from Melbourne, Australia, Sultana released her sprawling debut album, Flow State, as the clock struck midnight.
Featuring the previously-released works “Free Mind,” “Salvation” and “Harvest Love,” Flow State is the sound of an artist hitting peak form. She plays every instrument on the hour-long, 15-track set, from the saxophone, pan flute, grand piano, guitar and much more.
Sultana began recording the album in December of 2017 while on the road. “Everything that I recorded before, I pretty much put it in the bin and did it all again towards the end, ripped everything apart, did it all again,” Sultana told Billboard. “But I’m pretty fucking stoked… if I could go back, I’d do things differently, but that is what you’re going to say as an artist every single fucking time, isn’t it?”
Released through Sultana’s own record label, Lonely Lands Records, Flow State was engineered by Nikita Miltiadou, mixed by Dann Hume and mastered by Andrei Eremin. It’ll enjoy a serious push when Sultana embarks on another trans-Atlantic tour this fall, for her biggest headlining shows to-date. Sultana’s Flow State World Tour will also route into Australia for special headlining sets at Lost Picnic Festival in October, and again at Pineapple Fields in January 2019.
