Mark Kanemura dances as Carly Rae Jepsen performs on the Twin Peaks Stage during the 2018 Outside Lands Music And Arts Festival at Golden Gate Park on August 10, 2018 in San Francisco, California.
Carly Rae Jepsen closed her set at Outside Lands 2018 by making one dancer’s dream come true and shining a light on his joyful moves.
Mark Kanemura is a seasoned pro when it comes to dancing with pop stars, as the So You Think You Can Dance alum spent time with Lady Gaga on the road and appeared in her videos — but even he can get a little starstruck and did when Jepsen invited him to Outside Lands.
Kanemura adores Jepsen’s 2017 single “Cut to the Feeling,” and he’s shared several videos of himself lipsyncing and dancing along to the track across social media. In June, he posted a clip of him dancing in a technicolor wig and rainbow flurry to Jepsen’s “Cut to the Feeling” to celebrate the kick-off of Pride month, and the video quickly went viral.

But at Outside Lands, Kanemura’s “Cut to the Feeling” worship reached a whole new level: Jepsen teased that she had a “little surprise” for her crowd, and Kanemura strolled out in his rainbow cape, rainbow Speedo and a pile of wigs to outdo his viral moment IRL.
For the single’s confectionary chorus, he literally snatched his own wig — several of them! — and threw them into the air before coating Jepsen’s stage with glitter and positive vibes.
